Marie Queen of Bavaria (1825-1889)

Queen Marie of Bavaria was born on October 15, 1825 in the Berlin City Palace not far from the birth room of Friedrich der Große, as Hohenzollern Princess Friederike Franziska Auguste Marie Hedwig.

Father: Friedrich Wilhelm Karl as Prince Wilhelm, youngest brother of King Friedrich Wilhelm III of Prussia.

Mother: Marianne of Hesse-Homburg, granddaughter of Karoline landgravine of Hesse-Darmstadt, who was born in the house of Wittelsbach.

Marriage to Crown Prince Maximilian on October 12 1842, from 1848 to 1864 King Maximilian II of Bavaria until his death in 1864. Birth of the two sons Ludwig in 1845 and Otto in 1848.


The calendar depicts the life of Marie in impressive images and honours her work as the consort of King Maximilian II, queen of bavaria and mother of her both sons Ludwig, King of Bavaria from 1864 to 1886 and Otto, King of Bavaria from 1886 to 1916.
