The history of the Wittelsbach family – from its beginnings to the present day – is recounted in a vivid and exciting way over two-floors of the magnificent art nouveau building and an exhibition area of approximately 1,200 square metres.

The permanent exhibition, within sight of the two famous castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein, has been designed as an interactive tour. Along with a walk-in family tree, guests can also look forward to around 160 precious original exhibits. The outstanding items include the dinner service manufactured by the Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg for the golden wedding anniversary of King Ludwig III and his wife, Maria Theresa of Austria-Este, as well as the splendid centrepiece at the wedding of King Maximilian II of Bavaria to Princess Marie of Prussia in 1842.
