He fell victim to a typhus epidemic and died shortly after the birth of his daughter (2 July 1849) on 15 December 1849.<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">Archduke Ferdinand Karl Victor of Austria-Este; Coloured lithograph by August Prinzhofer, 1850; 1853 ALBERTINA, Wien\n<\/p>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\">The mother: Archduchess Elisabeth of Austria (1831-1903) was widowed from 1849. Marie Therese was their daughter and her uncle Franz V. of Austria-Este (1819-1875) became her guardian.
