Günter Albrecht thoroughly researched the topic of »The Wittelsbachs and Beer« over many years. The result of his research is the publication of the book entitled »Königliche Braukunst« which is both informative and entertaining to read.
It is not without good reason that beer is considered to be the national drink of Bavaria. Thus, it is also not surprising that the Bavarian ruling House of Wittelsbach always had a close relationship with the barley-based beverage. The history of this relationship begins long before the famous Bavarian Purity Law of 1516 and continues to be written today, thanks to Luitpold Prince of Bavaria who is, by profession, also Head of the König Ludwig Schloßbrauerei Kaltenberg.
