The royal Bavarian brand world is anchored within a network made up of family-owned companies, museums and foundations which all do justice to the cultural life of Bavaria.

The role of the Wittelsbach family in the grand scheme of things is to continue centuries-old trades, such as beer brewing, bread-baking and noble porcelain art (at the Königliche Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg), as well as to preserve historically-important art treasures at the Museum der bayerischen Könige.

However, this process of keeping culture alive also includes the annual Kaltenberger Ritterturnier at Kaltenberg Castle at which the culture of the royal court, medieval life and knightly horsemanship are celebrated in the most incredible way.

The craftsmen’s workshops at the factory produce iconic and custom-made porcelain items following four hundred years of tradition. The products are still designed by the most prestigious artists, architects and designers today.

Heinrich Prince of Bavaria organises a spectacular medieval jousting tournament at Kaltenberg Castle every July. It is currently the biggest of its kind and attracts tens of thousands of visitors from all over the world each and every year.

In September 2011, the Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds opened the Museum der bayerischen Könige in the former Grandhotel Alpenrose on the shores of the idyllic Alpsee lake. The collection extends over two-floors of the magnificent art nouveau building.

The Wittelsbacher Ausgleichsfonds acts as a kind of guarantor for the undiminished preservation of the unique art treasure-trove which the Wittelsbach family amassed during more than eight hundred years of uninterrupted regency.
