Naval Battle of Öland 1676.
In the fight for supremacy in the Baltic, Denmark allied with the Netherlands against Sweden. The two fleets met off the island of Öland. Following a failed manoeuvre, the Swedish flagship Kronan exploded and sank, taking almost its entire crew with it. The rest of the Swedish fleet fled. Denmark won supremacy of the seas and conquered the east coast of Sweden as far as Stockholm.
