Christina, Queen of Sweden on horseback, hunting with falcons, accompanied by a falconer, a noble white gyrfalcon blindfolded with a falcon hood, and three dogs.
Christina (1626–1689), daughter of Gustav II Adolf (1594–1632) and cousin of Charles X (1622–1660), took office under tutelage in 1632. In 1648, she insisted that many valuable works of art were brought back to Sweden following victory in the Battle of Prague. She abdicated the throne in 1654, converted to Catholicism, and led an unconventional life in Rome.
